Bell Pepper also known as Sweet pepper farming is often grown under irrigation systems in screen houses this is maximize our yield and to minimize exposure to stress conditions which may cause yield reduction. Our screen house cultivation allows us to control our peppers growing environments resulting in production all year round.
Benefits of Bell pepper to consumers:
Bell pepper is rich in disease-preventing and health-promoting nutrients such as sodium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, cobalt, manganese, Sulphur and magnesium with good quantities of vitamins B, C and E, and folic acid. They are also a rich source of vegetable fiber and antioxidants such as lycopene and beta-carotene which limit the activities of free radicals, thereby reducing the risk of cancer. It is also recommended for preventing obesity, constipation, and recommended for people with type-2 diabetes. Bell pepper may be eaten raw in salad or used in cooking a wide range of recipes.

At Riyden Farms, we also aim to start cultivating a few different varieties of peppers. These are two varieties we consume in southern Nigeria.
Habanero Pepper:
This pepper is in the same family as scotch bonnet and known as one of the hottest in the pepper family, based on Scoville scale. The Habanero pepper is said to have a fruity flavor for those who can get past the intense heat
Scoville heat unit: 150,000 to 350,000
Scotch Bonnet:
This is a well-known spicy favorite. It is used in a lot of African and Caribbean dishes to add flavor and of course heat. This spicy ball of fire is grown across southern Africa and because the pepper is an excellent source of capsaicin, it is said to be used as a substitute for treating verity of pains like; head aces, osteoarthritis pain, rheumatoid pain and inflammatory issues. Scotch bonnet peppers can also help reduce fat build up as well as reduce cancer risks.
